iPad Pro 9.7" (1st Gen)

About

Announced and released in March 2016, the 9.7-inch version of the iPad Pro was a compact and visually appealing tablet, and the aim was to target it at professionals in the Creatives market segment. With all the major features of the larger format iPad Pro (introduced the previous year), the iPad Pro 9.7” was smaller and more convenient to handle and carry around. The smaller size of this iPad Pro did not mean it was any less powerful, and it still retained the capability to use a detachable keyboard, and could operate with Apple Pencil, which made it very popular with artists and designers.

Considered an improvement upon the iPad Air 2 (the predecessor to the iPad Pro family), this iPad Pro had a faster CPU (the A9X chip), improved cameras and was the first iPad to include Retina Flash and True Tone Flash. The iPad Pro 9.7-inch also had the first True Tone display, in which the LCD can adapt to the amount of ambient light. The display could alter the intensity and colour density to suit the operating environment – a great feature if you wanted to use the iPad in a variety of different locations, both indoors and outside.

Repairs

The follow-on to the large-format iPad Pro with a 12.9-inch screen, this compact version has a 9.7-inch screen, and consequently is smaller and easier to handle. Apart from the smaller size, most of the other features of this iPad Pro are the same as its larger relative, which means it faces exactly the same risks in day to day use – screen and case damage, camera and speaker problems, and broken buttons. It doesn’t make sense to cut corners when it comes to getting an iPad Pro 9.7” repair, but you don’t want to pay over the odds either.
