Available for purchase in September 2015, the phablet format iPhone 6s Plus, and its smaller relative the iPhone 6s, were replacements for the iPhone 6 Plus and the iPhone 6. The iPhone 6s Plus introduced a number of improvements over the previous model, one of which, a strengthened chassis, addressed the tendency of the earlier phone to flex or bend under pressure. Other improvements included the introduction of 3D Touch – a system whereby sensors within the display react to the force as well as the direction of a touch, which then triggers actions such as opening context menus and previewing content.

Both the cameras were also improved on the iPhone 6s Plus – the previous model’s 8MP rear camera became a 12MP version on the new phone, with both digital and optical image stabilisation and slow-motion capabilities. The front camera also went from 1.2MP on the 6 Plus to 5MP on the 6s Plus. In addition to the technological changes to be found in the new iPhone 6s Plus, the iPhone was also released in the brand-new and highly attractive colour called Rose Gold, which had not been available on any previous iPhone.
