iPhone 11

About

September 2019 saw the announcement of the iPhone 11, the direct successor to the previous year’s iPhone XR. At the same time, the new higher end iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max were also made public. In addition to the usual performance enhancements we have come to expect each year, this series of iPhones was also remarkable because of the major improvements that had been made to the camera systems. In the case of the iPhone 11, there was now a dual camera set up, with the standard 12-MP camera being bolstered by the addition of a 12-MP ultra-wide-angle camera.

Outwardly similar in appearance to the iPhone XR, albeit with some new case colours, the iPhone 11 boasted a few less visible advances over the previous model. First of all, the battery life, which it was claimed to be an improvement (by one hour) on its predecessor, which already claimed to have the best battery life in the iPhone range. Secondly, the iPhone 11 had the same glass and aluminium exterior as the iPhone XR, but the glass was now even tougher. Finally, the inclusion of the A13 Bionic chip, which Apple claimed was the fastest CPU (and GPU) ever in a smartphone.
