iPhone XS Max

About

The iPhone XS Max launched at the same time as the iPhone XS and iPhone XR in September 2018, and was a large-format replacement for the iPhone X, which was never itself released in the larger size, and only lasted for 10 months in production. Fitted with the incredibly powerful and speedy Apple A12 Bionic chip, an impressive 6.5” OLED display and with faster Apple Face ID operation, the iPhone XS Max was a force to be reckoned with. This was the largest iPhone that Apple had ever produced, and gamers and movie-watchers were eager to get their hands on it, even though it was also the most expensive iPhone ever; at launch a standard handset cost a little over £1,000. Some critics commented that the iPhone XS Max was a little difficult to handle as it was so large, but most people were happy to put up with that in exchange for such an excellent large-sized display.

Another amazing feature of the iPhone XS Max was the available internal storage – most previous iPhones had stopped short at a healthy 258GB maximum, but the XS actually had a 512GB version available for a hefty £1,450. At that price, it’s a good job that all the latest iPhone X family had enhanced water and dust resistance, being protected to IP68 standards, which means it could stand 30 minutes’ immersion in up to 2 metres of liquid without coming to harm. The XS Max also benefitted from wireless charging, and the improvement to the coil (it was now made of copper) made charging quicker and more efficient.
