iPhone 15

About

On 12th September 2023, in Cupertino (California), Apple made their annual announcement of the new series of iPhones – labelled the iPhone 15 family, these were the 17th generation of the ever-popular smartphone. In keeping with Apple traditions, there were four new models in the suite, including the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Max and iPhone 15 Max Pro. The iPhone 15 was the lowest priced in the new range, and replaced the previous year’s lower cost offering, the iPhone 14. The iPhone 15 represented a more radical re-design than the previous model, having a curved back glass and display, more rounded corners, and a new set of colours, including black, blue, pink, green and yellow - the first time a recent model iPhone had not been made available in Product Red from launch.

The iPhone 15 series was also notable for having a USB-C connector for charging instead of the long-established Apple proprietary Lightning connector. This change was brought about in anticipation of a ruling by the European Commission that all mobile devices sold within the EU (European Union) must use standard USB-C. This ruling came about in a drive to reduce the amount of electronic waste being generated by needing a specific charger for each make of smartphone. The ruling was passed into law as the ‘Radio Equipment Directive’ in late 2022, and naturally Apple made the changeover to USB-C to make the entire range of iPhone 15 models compliant with the new law, and therefore able to continue being sold into the EU. Another first for Apple was that any iPhone 15 that had been manufactured in India was actually made available to buy (world-wide) on the very day of launch, rather than after the usual delay of up to 2 weeks, meaning eager buyers could get their hands on them more quickly than usual.

Fitted with the latest Apple A16 chip, a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, curved glass, rounder edges and capable of 80 hours of audio and 20 hours of video play back, the iPhone 15 was an affordable, useful and good-looking addition to the Apple iPhone family.

Repairs

By now, there must be very small proportion of working-age people across the UK who don’t have access to and therefore rely on a smartphone for business, leisure, communication, news and many other day to day activities. The same applies to young adults and children, who use them not only as a communication tool for calls, texts and messages, but also to produce, view and share the latest videos and clips, play games, solve puzzles, and with access to a whole world of information, for educational purposes. It is therefore most essential that your iPhone 15 is kept up to scratch (not literally), otherwise it could let you down when you need it most and leave you wondering how to get it put right.

The iPhone 15 has an appealing curved screen and glass back, with smoothly rounded corners, and feels great in your hand, but it will always be vulnerable to damage if you don’t handle it carefully. Slide your iPhone into a pocket or bag along with your keys, and you could scratch that handsome screen, leaving you needing an iPhone 15 screen repair or replacement. Drop it in a puddle, and although it is waterproof to a certain extent, you can’t be certain that it won’t suffer for it, and you may end up needing a water damage repair. Luckily, there is a UK-wide network of iTechs out there who can take your damaged iPhone 15, and restore it to full health quickly, efficiently, and affordably.
